Ever since Apple decided to refuse running Adobe Flash on the iPhone and iPad, we wondered how much content is Flash and if it was really that bad. After all, in Safari on Mac OS X, it seems fine.
ClickToFlash is a Safari plugin that doesn’t allow Flash to load, unless you click it. It’s that simple. If you have sites that you visit frequently you can ‘White List’ them so they can load automatically.
ClickToFlash can be downloaded here and you can also read about it in more detail.
Totally agree. I never realized how many times I would have to restart Safari in a given week to try and resolve issues of slowness, or after a plain ‘ol crash. Since using this to selectively run Flash, I’m much better off. You really notice how many ads are Flash. Also, a great additional feature is it’s ability to automatically turn YouTube videos into native H.264 playback without Flash, so you don’t have to invoke Flash for YouTube, which is probably 75% of when I use Flash.
